An excellent film all around! From the story to the acting to thecinematography, music, makeup, etc. - this has superior quality thatmakes this movie really stand out. As much as I liked 17 Miracles, Ithink Ephraim's Rescue is even better. It follows two main charactersand you see how their stories come together, rather than following lotsof different characters as 17 Miracles does. I think you feel a greatertie to the characters as a result. Ephraim Hanks is inspiring in thathe is an imperfect man who simply desires to do what's right and to beprepared. One of my new favorite movies! Thank you, T.C.! Amazing job!Can't wait to see what movie you come out with next!
Ephraim's Rescue (2013) Review by blue-7 from Salt Lake City
Director T.C. Christensen said that when he made his pioneer handcartfilm 17 MIRACLES that he wanted to include the inspiring true storyEphraim K. Hanks but decided that it needed to be told in a film ofit's own. EPHRAIM'S RESCUE is that film and indeed it did call for it'sown telling. Darin Southam is excellent in the title role of a manwillingly prepared to do the errands of the Lord. The catch-line forthe film is "Decisions Determine Destiny" and Ephraim's life proves tobe a wonderful depiction of how an ordinary man can be magnified to bean instrument for great good in the hands of God. Once again T.C. hascreated a script based on recorded entries found in pioneer journalsand through fine directing, beautiful cinematography and stirring musiccreated a film of great power and beauty. Many years ago PresidentHeber J. Grant foretold of a time when the stories of the pioneers andthe birth of the restoration would be told on the screens of the world.T.C. Christensen has certainly played a major part in helping to bringthat vision to life. See this in a theatre if possible and look for iton DVD (hopefully in Blu-ray) down the road.

I had the chance to see this in theaters before it game out. It lookslike it is going to be a movie that just tries to focus on gettingpeople to cry, but that's not it at all. It has a lot of funny jokes,jokes were cleverly placed through out the show. A few parts it eventies spiritual scenes in with a joke which i think makes it so muchmore enjoyable. Not only does it have a lot of great jokes in it but itlets you relate to the characters. There is one scene including ariver(wont tell you anymore to not spoil the movie) that i thought theytried too hard to make it suspenseful but all in all it was a reallygreat show and i will be going to see it again.
